I recently read an article on how important it is to balance your work life with your private life. It got me thinking of times when I have unwittingly prioritized work. To help me out I downloaded an app named TimeReport. The app helps you keep track of your work schedule, giving you a detailed report on how much time you spend on your professional life.
I find that TimeReport is really good at what it does. The app has a ‘MultiJob’ option that helps you update and keep track of more than one job at a time. To start off you’ll have to type in the necessary details such as job(s) you work at, your working hours and your wages on a daily basis.
Using the app you can keep track of the hours clocked in at your workplace, and the actual hours worked. Keeping this as a record you can calculate the hours worked overtime and the deficit hours that you need to make up for during the week. The details stored on a daily basis will be presented as a detailed summary, helping you determine the workload and the stress you are going through. This is an effective way to find out if you are doing enough or too much at work. The app also has a search feature that helps you look through the summary for specific details.
Keeping track of your career will let you know where you are headed. Using the ‘career’ option in the app you can keep track of your promotions and raises. Besides this, the app regularly sends you notifications to remind you to update your summary, and gives you general, weekly, monthly and annual statistics of your performance. It comes with a widget that helps you record your work day in real time directly on your homescreen, and a backup and restore feature that lets you use the app on other devices. The app also creates and exports your report in Excel (csv/xls), so you can share it at work.
Though the app has many features, I would have also loved to see an alarm that goes off when I clock in more than my working hours, and an automatic calculation of overtime pay earned over the month. Though the app is missing a few minor details, I am quite satisfied with TimeReport as it helps me strike a balance between my career and family life.
